Q. Will there be tradeskills in the game?
A. As your character progresses through the game, he may apply skill points to secondary skills such as resource gathering, Blacksmithing and other crafting skills.
Q. Will there be a merchant class?
A. That has not been decided upon yet.
Q. Will we see familiar Warcraft 3 characters in World of Warcraft?
A. Yes, you will see many Warcraft 3 characters and races in World of Warcraft.
Q. Will heroes exist in the game?
A. Some of the heroes in World of Warcraft will come from Warcraft 3, but there will also be many heroes unique to World of Warcraft.
Q. What is the level of player interaction with the gaming environment?
A. It's pretty minimal at the moment.
Q. Will player housing exist in the game?
A. We feel player housing is very important to the players and we are looking into it.
Q. If player housing was implimented, would it be contained with in specified areas of the map to prevent the over abundance of housing in the wilds?
A. Yes.
Q. Will reagents be required for spell casting?
A. Right now it only uses mana.
Q. Will there be a way to show the player how far he/she has progressed in a particular level?
A. Yes, it will be located on a status/attribute screen, which has been disabled for the E3 demo.
Q. Will it be a progress bar or a number system?
A. It will probably be a hybrid--a bar with a number.
Q. How many characters per account will there be?
A. That is a number we haven't released yet.
Q. Is it possible to create your own name for your character?
A. Of course, we wouldn't want to limit players to names they didn't like.
Q. Will there be a unique naming system to prevent players from stealing names of other characters?
A. That's something we'll definately look into.
Q. Will swimming be allowed?
A. Swimming is definately in the game. The animations are finished but were disabled for the E3 demo.
Q. Will there be underwater combat?
A. Underwater combat will be included, but I can't share any details of that system at this time.
Q. Are there areas underwater for players to explore?
A. Yes, there will be many areas for players to discover underwater.
Q. Will there be dungeons to explore?
A. There will be pleanty of dungeons for players to explore.
Q. Where will monsters spawn?
A. Spawns are controlled by spawn points placed throughout dungeons and the world.
Q. Will monsters spawn at the exact location where the spawn point is placed or within a radius around that point?
A. That is something I have no information on.
Q. Will there be dungeon bosses?
A. Yes, bosses are something we've included. [In the E3 Demo, the boss in one dungeon was a large werewolf that can be seen in some of the images]
Q. Do the dungeon bosses drop special loot?
A. Bosses will drop special magic items, among other things.
Q. Are magic items generated using a Diablo-like system where it's attributes are randomly choosen from a given range or a system where the items are preset such as Everquest?
A. That hasn't been decided upon yet.
Q. How is the weather handled?
A. Well, the weather is controlled by a special system, which generates weather patterns and effects. The clouds are moving very slowly and will eventually part to reveal the sky. In the case of a storm, the clouds will roll in, which will darken the environment. Rain would fall and lightning could make an appearence.
Q. Do the sun and moon move?
A. Yes, the moon will set and soon after the sun will rise. As the sun sets or rises light from the sun will interact with the environment creating the sunrise and sunset effects. It's quite beautiful.
Q. Do you have an approximate time range for when beta will start?
A. There is no set date, but it could be within a year. There are many factors that could change that estimate greatly. When we do start beta, there will be a public announcements.
Q. When beta starts will it start small?
A. Most of the small testing will be in house so when we go public it will be for something like stress testing.
Q. So, would you start with about 1000 testers?
A. 1000 is a pretty small number. We'll be using a whole lot more than that initially.
