Hellfire Peninsula
is the first zone encountered in the outlands.
It can be reached by walking through the Dark Portal in the Blasted
Lands (located in the southern section of the Eastern Kingdoms).
Notable locations
The Stair of Destiny
This is
where you will find yourself as soon as your travels through the Dark Portal
are complete. Thirty paces away from the
portal is a fantastic fight between good and evil, between demon and those who
strive to protect life. I wouldn’t suggest
running through the lines of combat to being your journey in outlands! To the left you will find a Gryphon Master
who will send you to Honor Hold. If you
are allied with the Horde, to your right you will find a ride to the Horde town
of Thrallmar.
Honor Hold
This is the stronghold for Alliance
in Hellfire Peninsula. There is an inn here where you can buy all of
the typical things available in an Inn. The innkeeper offers two new flavors of water
as well as new food! The new water available here is Filtered Draenic Water [Use: Restors 5100 mana over 30 sec, Requires Level 60], Purified Draenic Water [Use: Restores 7200 mana
over 30 sec. Requires Level 65], Mag’har
Grainbread [Use: Restores 4320 health over 30 sec.
Requires level 60.] and Bladespire Bagel [Restores
7500 health over 30 sec. Requires level 65].
This is where you will find your first several quests. There are quests
located in all of the typical places – in the inn, in the keep, and random NPCs located around Honor Hold. The quest rewards are quite nice, and pay a
substantial amount of gold.
The Legion Front
Some quests
near Honor hold will send you here, where the Burning Legion are
fighting against those who would stand against them!
Expedition Armory
Located in on the edge of the
southern portion of Hellfire Peninsula,
you will lay to rest the souls of men slain in battles of the past. Quests will send you here to recover lost
articles and free the souls of the poor souls who remain.
Zeppelin Crash Site
This is located northwest of the
Expedition Armory. The goblins that have
crashed here will send you looking for parts for their zeppelin as well as part
of edible creatures located around the crash sight.
Bombing Runs
There are
some fun quests that send you into battle on a flying mount, dropping bombs on
the enemy. These quests are located in
the North east section of Hellfire Peninsula. These quests are repeatable for added fun!
Hellfire Citadel
This is
home to foul orcs who are created to serve Illidan in his battle against the forces of good. It is also home to three instances, Hellfire
Ramparts, The Blood Furnace, and the Shattered Halls. Hellfire Ramparts and The Blood Furnace are
available to players at level 60. The
Shattered Halls are available at level 65.
The Blood Furnace is located on the top of Hellfire Citadel, Hellfire
Ramparts are located on the middle level, and The Shattered Halls are on the
lower level of Hellfire Citadel.
Thrallmar
This is the
Horde starting town. Similarly, your
beginning quests are here.
Pools of Aggonar
Quests will
send you here to Blistering Oozlings (picture
ectoplasm) and Terrorfiends. You will also kill Arazzius
the Cruel. He is located towards the
northern most part of the Pools of Aggonar and is
guarded by Mistresses of Doom. When
engaging a Mistress of Doom she will spawn 3 imps. She is easily soloable. Arazzius the Cruel
is best killed in a group at level 60

Quests also have you pour a potion on the bones of Aggonar. The bones
look like a large dinosaur skeleton at first, but upon further inspection you
realize the are the bones of an enormous ancient
demon. Cleanse him by pouring out the
provide potion on his corpse and fight the demon that spawns.
The Temple of Telhamat
The beginning
quests of the zone will eventually send you here, where you will find more
quests! You will also find a new flight
point making it convenient to go back and forth from either Thrallmar
or Honor Hold.
The Ruins of Sha’naar
Here you
will find an Draenai
enslaved to Arzeth the Merciless. Find the Draenai
leaders in the camp and complete the quest to kill Arzeth
and free the enslaved Draenai.

There are of course more places and quest locations, but
these are a few places the easy to finish quests send you.

Instances
There are three instances in Hellfire
Peninsula. Some of the quests obtained around Honor Hold
and Thrallmar end up sending you to Hellfire Citadel,
specifically Hellfire Ramparts and The Blood Furnace. The Shattered Halls are
for higher level players and also located in Hellfire Citadel. The interesting part about instances is that
the difficulty setting can be increased to obtain better gear. To change the difficulty setting The Ramparts
and The Blood Furnace, you need to obtain a key, which is obtained by reaching a
certain reputation with Honor Hold. To
key to Shattered Halls is obtained by killing the end boss of The Blood Furnace
The Hellfire Ramparts is actually a very
short instance. There are three bosses, Watchkeeper Gargolmar, Omor the Unscarred, and Vazruden. One of the quests will have you pick up a
part from each boss, so if you are in the habit of not looting mobs, remember
to check the corpse of each boss.
Watchkeeper Gargolmar

This fight is a typical tank and kill
fight, easily killable with any sort of tank, healer, and dps
classes to fill the five man group.
Omor the Unscarred

Omor the Unscarred is the second boss
in the Hellfire Ramparts. He is easy to
manage with a tank and DPS. He casts a
curse that should be dispelled by mages or druids in the party. He also has an aoe
that does a decent amount of damage to party members.
Loot:
Jack Black must play World of Warcraft.
Tenacious D!

Vazruden

Vazruden is the final boss in Hellfire Ramparts. You fight both Vazruden
and his dragonVazruden charges members of the party
but is still tankable like the majority of bosses in
five man instances. His dragon will
shoot fireballs at you in the sky while you fight Vazruden,
and then breath fire on the group when he lands. Tanks should make sure he is pointe away from the party.
Loot:

The Blood Furnace is longer than The
Ramparts, but still fairly short and easy to win. [Intro stuff]
Three comprise the boss makeup for The Blood Furnace. These bosses are The Maker, Broggok, and Keli’dan the
Breaker. During the fight through the Blood furnace you will hear yelling from Magtheridon, whose blood will apparently be the end of you
and who desires to overthrow Illidan.
The Maker

This is the first boss of The Blood Furnace. He mind-controls a random
person in the group. This person
should be crowd controlled and dps should continue to
attack The Maker.
Loot:

Broggok

Broggok is the second boss of The
Blood Furnace. The encounter begins when
the lever in front of his gate is switched.
After the switch has been thrown, Orcs are
released in four waves on the left and right walls. The orc packs are easy
to kill, but the danger is running out of mana before
Broggok finally is released.

Broggok doesn’t have many hit
points and is easily killable provided healers have mana
to keep the group alive.
Keli’dan the Breaker

Keli’dan the Breaker is the final
boss of the Blood Furnace and holds the key to the Shattered Halls. Keli’dan the
Breaker is surrounded by 5 guards. Kill
his guards first, then focus on him. He has a flamestrike
that deals a significant amount of damage.
When Keli’dan the Breaker begins to glow, the
party should back out of range of the flamestrike. After he casts flamestrike,
continue to kill him.
