WarCraft: Orcs and Humans
Release Date: 1994
Genre: Real-Time Strategy Game
WarCraft: Orcs and Humans is the first installment in the WarCraft
series. While it didn't enjoy as great a success
as it's sequel, it was very well received by RTS fans
and gamers all over the country. In WarCraft, you
control either the Orcish Horde or the Human Alliance
of Azeroth. The game contains 24 scenarios, 12 in
each of either the Orcs or the Humans.
The land of Azeroth had known peace for many ages. With
a strong and well-trained army, it seemed as if things
would stay peaceful forever. That is, until the day
the Orcish Hordes arrived. The armies of Azeroth, totally
unprepared for such vicious and bloodthirsty enemies,
suffered great losses at the hands of the Orcish onslaught.
As the Orcs poured through the Dark Portal, the Humans
gathered their strength to defend their homeland. Using
Knights, Archers, and Clerics, the Humans
battled the Orcish Warlocks, Demons, and even the dead.
As the game unfolds, the player begins to realize that
things may not be as they seem. WarCraft also allowed
players to challenge their friends via modem or network
play, with over 20 multiplayer maps on which to battle
for power.

WarCraft: Orc and Humans is a classic.
It began the WarCraft series, which many consider
the greatest RTS series ever created. From the first
WarCraft game spawned the incredibly successful WarCraft
II and III, which are both exponentially better than
their predecessor.
