Player Versus Player - Race Wars
Race Wars Server
The Horde Vs Alliance Race Wars Server is a special server during Beta used to test PVP in World of Warcraft. Blizzard does not plan to have this as their final implementation of a "pvp server." However, this is a great way for them to test pvp concepts and work on class balance issues.
On a Race Wars server, the different teams "own" different territories. Depending on which territory you are in will affect your options in PVP. Players will be able to tell what territory they are are by using the mini-map. The colors used are fairly self explanatory.
- Green = Friendly
- Red = Enemy
- Yellow = Contested
Players will be able to initiate player vs. player combat based on what territory they are in:
- Players in friendly territories are safe unless they decide to attack an opposing faction player first.
- Players in enemy territories will always be at risk and can be attacked by all players of the opposing faction.
- All players can be attacked in contested territories.
Actions that will enable a player for PvP status on the Horde vs. Alliance race war server will be:
- Entering or being in an enemy territory
- Entering or being in a contested territory
- Attacking an NPC of the opposing faction
- Attacking another player
- Aiding a player engaged in PvP
- Using the /pvp command.
Once PvP has been enabled for a player, no matter what the method, it will remain in effect for five minutes. As you can see, there are many more ways to enable pvp status on a race wars server.
