The Rogue is a cunning and stealthy adversary who gains their lethality
with surprise and incredible melee burst damage. Rogues have many abilities
which help them both in PvP and PvE and some abilities which just frustrate
other players. While anyone can stealth up and smack around a mob, it
takes a skilled player to truly master a Rogue. Rogues revolve around
the Combo Points of their abilities. The most any target can have is 5
Combo Points and the Rogue’s finishing moves are used optimally when the target
has this number of points. However, a finishing move can be used at a
lower Combo point total, but is just less effective than the 5 point version.
A key ability to the Rogue class is Stealth. This
allows the Rogue to move around without being seen, unless they are very close
to an enemy or vastly under leveled. While in Stealth, the Rogue has many
abilities that are very useful. They can incapacitate an opponent for
a long period of time, stun an opponent, or cause a high amount of initial damage.
A nice unique ability of Rogues is Lock picking.
They are the only class in the game that can pick locks for either chests or
doors. Many players will pay a Rogue for his services to access some of
the Lockboxes in the game, but be warned: it is not easy to level up this skill
and takes a lot of dedication to do so.
Finally, Rogues get access to Poisons that they can apply
to their weapons. This allows the Rogue to get an increase to damage,
slow an opponent, or increase the casting time of their spells. These
Poisons have to be made by the Rogue and learned from a trainer, but are incredibly
easy to level up.
Rogues have 3 talent trees that help them specialize in
their melee damage. The Assassination tree focuses on increasing the burst
damage capability of the Rogue. Combat focuses on sustaining a high amount
of damage over a longer period of time. Finally, Subtlety increases the
utility aspects of the Rogue and helps to set up their finishing moves easier.
