Warrior

The Warrior is the “basic” melee unit in World of Warcraft. However, the Warrior is anything but a basic class. While the Warrior is limited to melee combat, the Warrior has many skills to cause massive amounts of damage or mitigate a large portion of the incoming damage. The Warrior also works off of Rage. The more damage taken or done by the Warrior, the more Rage the Warrior gains. The more Rage a Warrior has, the more skills the Warrior can perform.

Stances are an important and unique part of being a Warrior. The different Stances dictate the skill set that a Warrior can use at any given time. Also, the Stance themselves have different effects on the Warrior’s damage done and damage taken. Battle Stance has no increased damage or increased damage taken effects, while Defensive Stance reduces damage done and reduces damage taken. Berserker Stance allows the Warrior to have a higher critical chance, but increases the damage taken by the Warrior while in this Stance.

Charge is a unique and highly useful skill of a Warrior. Charge allows the Warrior to instantly move to the target’s location, stunning the target for 1 sec, and providing the Warrior with ample rage to start off with some attacks. Charge has a cousin called Intercept that costs rage to use, but can be used in combat.

Taunt is the most useful tanking skill of the Warrior. Taunt allows the Warrior to force a mob to attack him as long as the mob initially had aggro on someone else. This is highly useful in groups when a mob would otherwise go chew down on your healer.

Warriors have 3 talent trees that vastly affect the path they will follow in PvP and PvE content. The Arms tree focuses on the burst damage capability of the Warrior and is generally ideal for PvP content. The Fury tree focuses on sustaining a high output of damage over a greater period of time. Finally, the Protection tree allows the Warrior to be a more efficient and stronger tank in a group.
