Aedelas Blackmore (lieutenant)
Blackmore ran the Durnholde internment camps where what remained
of the orcish horde had been imprisoned after the second war. He
ruthlessly thirsted for power and prestige and held no love for
the orc prisoners in his care. This was all apparent to his most
famous prisoner, Thrall the future orc warchief.
Blackmore found Thrall when he was just a baby, shortly after
the ambush and murder of Thrall’s parents. He raised Thrall to
be a gladiator, but that was just a cover for his true plans.
Blackmore hoped to use Thrall to lead a new Horde against the
Alliance that would bring much reward to himself.
Blackmore was killed when Thrall had Durnholde leveled.

Aegwyn, The Gaurdian
Guardian of Azeroth, Aegwyn stood as one of the members of the
Order of Tirisfal, a group dedicated to protecting the world
from the burning legion. Endowed with substantial power, she was
able to defeat the fallen god Sargeras and entomb him beneath
the raging maelstrom.
Aegwyn married Nielas Aran and bore a son. She poured forth the
entirety of her power to her child in order that he may succeed
her as a Gurdian in the Order of Tirisfal.
However, Sargeras was able to impart a portion of his chaotic
spirit in to the soul of Aegwyn’s unborn son, Medivh. Aegwyn had
protected Aezeroth from the Legion, but through her son, the
Legion would find a tool to invade the land once more. After
discovering her son’s depths of madness, she informed King Lhane
of his treachery.
Anduin Lothar
A loyal knight of
King Lhane’s, Champion of the King, and wielder of of the Great
Royal Sword, Anduin Lothar would find himself as a respected
leader of the human armies against the first attacks of the
ravenous orcish horde.
Lothar, Llane, and Medivh were all good friends during their
younger days. Together, they helped lead Azeroth into the
prosperity the Kingdom enjoyed before the coming of the Horde.
Through Khadgar, Lothar kept an eye of Medivh. Unfortunately, in
the end, Lothar with Khadgar, Garona, and several soldiers, had
to kill the sorceror.
Having the respect of his men and the skills of a formidable
general, it would be Lothar who would lead the humans to
Lodaeron after the fall of King Lhane. Lothar was the strong
bond that kept the civilians and soldiers going through the
Great Exodus.
Serving under the new King Terenas, Lothar was placed in command
of the entire alliance force assembled to take on the orcish
threat. He would meet his doom in an ambush near the final
battle of the war at Blackrock spire.
Antonidas
The archmage of the Kirin Tor, Antonidas leads the conclave of
wizards in the mystical city of Dalaran. Before the coming of
the Scourge, Antonidas was Jayna Proudmore’s mentor. Rumors
abounded that Jayna had the potential to succeed him and his
failing health helped to add fuel to the fire. However, Arthas
and the Scourge complicated matters. The Kirin Tor under the
guidance of Antonidas ereceted powerful magical spires that
stripped the flesh from undead bone. The magical energy was
powerful and nearly succeeded in keeping the undead away from
Dalaran. Arthas however, was not a mindless corpse and found the
weakness of the defense. Once the energy field fell, Archimonde
had his way with the city. Through the sheer might of his magic,
the crystal towers came crashing down upon themselves. Antonidas
is assumed to be dead, but with one as powerful as he, this may
not be the case.
Arthas
Son of King Terenas, Arthas was a member of the Paladin Order of
Light. Tutored under the respected Uthar Lightbringer, Arthas
was not only the heir apparent to the throne, but also
potentially to the leadership of the Paladins as well.
Trained in the ways of war by none other than Muradin
Bronzebeard himself, Arthas was not only a capable healer, he
was a potent warrior as well. Arthas however, would become a
traitor to humanity on a magnitude equal to that of Medivh.
Arthas was one of the first to discover what the plagued grain
created of those who consumed it. Seeing his country men warped
and twisted into undead abominations, ghouls and skeletons,
Arthas snapped. Villages of his own countrymen were burned by
him and his forces. Arthas would slay the Necromancer Kel’Thuzad
only to discover that the scurge had been unleashed and there
was no hope of stopping it. Driven mad with hopes of vengeance
against the perpetrators, Arthas joined Muradin Bronzebeard in a
quest to find the fabled sword Frostmourne. Having been
abandoned by his mentor Uthar and his friend Jayna, Arthas had
only vengeance left in his soul. The prophet Medivh warned him
of what was to come. But the proud and obstinate youth had
nothing but blood on his mind.
Frostmourne however, was not a blade of salvation. In truth it
was a blade of damnation, whose sole purpose had been to capture
and corrupt Arthas’ soul. The Lich King had chosen Arthas, and
the blade shaped him into a creature of anger, vengeance and
misery. So complete was its hold over Arthas, that Muradin, his
friend and teacher, was the first to fall victim to its thirst
for death. As a Death Knight, Arthas returned to his homeland
and slew his own father.
With his former kingdom in shambles, Arthas would lead the
scurge to crush the elves of Quelthalas all the while aided by
the specter of Kel’thuzad. Eventually he would restore the
Necromancer to a state of undeath as a Lich. Together they lead
what would be the shock troops of the Burning Legion.

Daelin Proudmore (Admiral)
The well respected leader of the Alliance naval forces in the
second war. His bravery on the seas and strategies with his
fleet were unparalleled. His greatest gift to his people may
however, be his daughter, Jaina.
Jaina Proudmore
Jaina is the daughter of the famed Daelin Proudmoore. Before she
left for school in Dalaran, her relationship with Arthas was a
tabloid affair. The whole kingdom was abuzz with the impending
courtship. Fate had other ideas, and the two agreed with her
becoming a mage and he a king, that the relationship couldn't
last.
Jaina studied under the most powerful mages in the world. Home
to the Kirin Tor, before its fall Dalaran was known for its
magical schools and powerful students. A student of the famed
Antonidas she had exceptional potential as the Third War began.
Many even believed she would eventually lead the powerful
magical order.
A childhood friend of Arthas, Jaina accompanied him in the first
days of the scurge plague. Having not seen the Scourge first
hand, neither she nor Uther could stand to participate in his
“cleansing” of his own people.
Unlike Arthas, Jaina heeded the words of Medivh. Realizing that
there was no hope in defending the plagued continent of Azeroth,
Jayna rallied what was left of her people and set forth to
Kalimdor. There on the top of Stone Talon Peak she threw her
forces together with Thrall’s to stand and face the Burning
Legion. Jaina and the last of the alliance forces stood at the
base of Norrandil in defiance of Archimonde. It was under her
leadership that the alliance forces fought a delaying action as
Malfurion Stormrage set his trap.
Kel’Thuzad
A promising magical student in the Violet City of Dalaran,
somewhere along the way his promise turned to a thirst for power.
Kel’Thuzad drifted into the darker arts of necromancy and at
some point came under the influence of Ner’Zhul the Lich King.
Ner’Zhul placed the mage in command of cultivating a cult within
the ranks of the human alliance. Feeding on the darker sides of
the human mind, the necromancer managed the gradual cultivation
of the cultists in and around the greatest population centers of
the human kingdoms. The cult kept their activities secret from
authorities and buried themselves deeply into crevices within
society.
It would be Kel’Thuzad who would oversee the distribution of the
plagued grain that would start the scourges march of terror.
With the grain corrupting the souls of the bodies of those who
ate it, the scourge literally burst forth from within the ranks
of the human alliance itself.
Even though his necromancer had performed admirably, Ner’Zhul
apparently decided to allow him to die well before the might of
the scourge was fully realized. Prince Arthas and Jayna
Proudmore cut Kel’Thuzad down, however, the Lich King had other
plans for him once the young Prince had been won over..
The new pawn of the Legion, Arthas, would transport the remains
of Kel’Thuzad to the elvish lands and restore him to life. In
gathering the remains of the necromancer, the young prince slew
Uthar Lightbringer and even desecrated the remains of his own
father. The importance of necromancer to Ner’Zhul was great
indeed. After returning to this world as a powerful Lich,
Kel’Thuzad would perform his most vital task for his master in
the ice crown glacier, the seduction of the Dread Knight Arthas
away from the influence of the Burning Legion.
Speaking only to Arthas, the Lich slowly convinced the Dread
Knight that his fortunes lay with the Lich King Ner’Zhul and not
with the Dread Lords of the Legion. Either by design or luck,
when the demon Archimonde fell at the base of the World Tree
Nordrassil, the Lich King’s army was still in tact and had two
powerful leaders in Kel’Thuzad the lick and Arthas the Dread
Knight.
Khadgar
Khadgar was the first mage to ever become an apprentice of
Medivh. Most failed horribly, killing themselve accidentally or
leaving before they reached apprenticeship. Khadgar was
different though, he had been considered one of the most
resourceful young mages in Dalaran.
His resourcefulness may have been the reason he was sent away.
Khadgar was very good at finding out secrets about people.
Lothar had Khadgar keep an eye on Medivh, and eventually had to
help destroy the crazed mage.
While under the tutelage of Medivh, Khadgar learned many new
things. When the time came, it was Khadgar who destroyed the
Dark Portal. While Khadgar was a powerful mage, he wasn't able
to destroy the rift between the worlds.
Khadgar would go with Turyalon through the rift to Draenor.
There he would help stop the orcs from opening more portals to
other worlds. Khadgar's fate is not known, for Draenor was
destroyed when Ner'zhul opened too many portals at one time. It
is hoped that he and the other Alliance forces were able to
escape Draenor.
King Terenas
Successor to the heroic King Lothar, Terenas had big shoes to
fill. No sooner had Terenas become comfortable as king, the
horde once more began pouring through the gates from Draenor.
When Gromm and Kilrogg’s armies invaded, the alliance was slow
to react and Terenas less effective than Lothar and getting the
elves and dwarves ready to retaliate. He did however decide on
the rather bold strategy of sending his most revered general and
powerful mage through the portal to destroy the last of the
Horde. His detractors say the idea was Turalyon or Khadgars, but
his supports claim that as king ultimately the decision was his.
The action was a success and Terenas commissioned a great hall
to be erected within Stormwind in remembrance of their sacrifice.
History is not as forgiving of Terenas for his handling of the
third war however. Many thought the orcs should be exterminated.
Others believed they should be freed. Terenas waffled and
maintained the status quo. All current conflicts with orcs are
often blamed on Terenas. After all, he had the opportunity to
destroy the race once and for all. Or so the common folk believe.
But by far his greatest failure was his lack of decisiveness in
response to the Scourge. His son Prince Arthas, warned him of
what was coming and the people have never forgiven him. Few
remember that the revered Uthar Lightbringer and respected Jaina
Proudmore doubted Arthas as well. What they remember is the
scores of dead claimed by the Scourge and Terenas’ inability to
do anything about it.
Terenas never made much of an attempt to reunite with the elves
or the dwarves. Turmoil within his own court was even above his
ability to calm. Even though Arthas turned against his people
and his family, many believe that if Terenas has supported his
son, the Scourge could have been stopped and Arthas saved.
However, Terenas did little and in the end, was slain by his own
son. Corrupted by Frostmourne, the only human who truly
understood the Scourge and what lay in store, had been won over
by it.
Medivh
Son of the Guardian Aegwyn and the powerful conjurer Neilas Aran,
Medivh was destined for great things. However, after his mother
had defeated the fallen god Sargeras, the demon lord had
imparted part of his chaotic soul to the as of yet unborn
Medivh.
Growing up with a well of immense, raging power Medivh was
deeply troubled. On his thirteenth birthday, an eruption of
power burst forth from him. So intense was it that the lands
most powerful mages and clerics arrived to stem the magical
eruption. Medivh entered a deep sleep when it was finally dammed,
but the act of doing so cost his own father’s life.
As King Wrynn III stepped down and Prince Lhane took the throne,
Medivh surprisingly returned to his people. He presented the
Prince with a gift of a magical hourglass. Though sand
constantly poured, the sand from the top never emptied. Medivh
presented it as a representation of the people, that as long as
the sand flowed, they would remain free. But the gift was little
more than cruel joke for Medivh.
The sorceror had let his mind drift across the ether of space
and had made contact with a race of warriors whom bloodlust was
a part of their being. A race he felt he could control and
manipulate. A race he thought could be the foot soldiers in the
creation of a word that he could control. The true power behind
the orcs of Draenor was Gul’Dan a warlock of substantial power.
However, Medivh believed hints of his knowledge of the tomb of
Sargeras was enough to keep the warlock on a short leash.
When the last of the sand truly did fall from the hourglass, the
orcish Hordes lead by Blackhand the Destroyer and guided by
Gul’Dan and his shadow council, burst forth from the demon
gates. With this, Medivh began the first of the great wars
between the orcs and the humans.
Aegwyn informed King of her sons treachery and a host of
warriors were dispatched to deal with him. As he slept the
agents of Lhane cut him down. All those who were attuned to the
ways of magic could feel the emanation as Medivh was locked in
his death throws. Knowing that the secret of Sargeras’ tomb
would die with him, Gul’Dan attempted to dive into Medivh’s
brain for the information. Failing to escape in time, Gul’Dan
was trapped in a state of limbo as Medivh apparently drew his
last breath.
Apparently powerful enough to cheat death, Medivh returned to
the world of men as a mysterious prophet at the beginning of the
third war. He foretold the destruction of the world to the heros
of Azeroth in an attempt to rally them against the coming of the
Burning Legion. Thrall would be the first to heed his words,
many never did. Rejected by the King Terenas and his son Arthas,
Medivh nearly gave up on the race of men. However, Jayna
Proudmore would heed his advice and sail to Kalimdor.
It would be there, high atop Stone Talon Peak that Medivh would
reveal who he was and what the Scourge truly represented. No
ones knows why Medivh worked so hard to help save the world he
once sought to conquer. The fact that he worked so hard, yet
never fought himself, is also a mystery
Nielas Aran
Father of Medivh, Neilas was a mage to whom Aegwyn chose as a
husband and eventually fathered her child. Aran was a powerful
conjurer and honorable servant to his king. On Medivh’s 13th
birthday, the nacent power within him erupted. Nielas Aran gave
his life in the effort of stemming the eruption of magic that
Medivh radiated.
Rhonin
A human mage, Rhonin lead the small group of Alliance warriors
against Nekros and the Horde at Grim Batol. It would be Rhonin
who would destroy the Demon’s Soul, an artifact which bent the
Red Dragons to the will of the Horde. After freeing the dragons,
Rhonin would watch as they ripped apart the last remnants of the
free orcs on Azeroth. With the fall of Grim Batol, the Horde was
officially crushed. All that remained was scattered groups and
those interned by the Alliance.
Turalyon
Was the trusted right hand of King Lothar during the second war.
He stood by Lothar during the Exodus from Azeroth and the
forging of the alliance between the dwarves and the high elves.
He lead the armies of the Alliance along side Daelin Proudmore
and Uthar Lightbringer as they fought against Ogrim Doomhammer’s
forces. On the Burning Steppes at the base of Black Rock spire
he fought with the Paladins and Lothar agains the last charge of
the Horde.
Ogrim managed to slay Lothar and the effect was palpable to the
alliance forces who watched their king fall. However, Turalyon
rallied them valiantly and lead the counterattack which would
crush the last vestiges of orcish strength.
He would server King Terenas faithfully as his general and
oversaw the internment of what remained of the Horde. When
Ner’zhul’s force poured once more into Azeroth, Turalyon took
the command along side the mage Khadgar, of the forces which
would travel to Draenor in retaliation. Though some orcs managed
to get past his men, Turalyon managed to keep what remained of
the Horde on the dying world of Draenor. No one knows if
Turalyon and his men escaped, but all know that without his
sacrifice, the Alliance would have had its hands full with a
third orc invasion.
Uthar Lightbringer
Head Paladin in the Order of Light, Uthar was King Terenas’
right hand man at the beginning of the war against the scourge.
Uthar attempted to take the young prince Arthas under his wing.
However, by most accounts his attempts were rebuffed by the
brash youth. Uthar earned his reputation in fighting in the
against the horde at the battle of Blackrock spire. However, his
legend will likely be that of the man who allowed the Prince of
Lodaeron to slip into madness.
Dwarves
Muradin Bronzebeard
A tragic figure in dwarven history, Muradin was known for his
courage and also for having to much faith in a former pupil of
his. The weapons trainer for the young Prince Arthas, Muradin
taught the young paladin the art of combat. He was close to
Terenas’ family ever since the Alliance formed to face the horde
at the beginning of the second war.
When the scourge first began to wreak havoc, Muradin and a small
band of loyal dwarves began searching for ways to turn the tide
of battle against their foes. Coming across information about a
great sword of immense power, Muradin set off to claim it.
Hoping against hope that with a mighty weapon in his hands, that
his people could fight back the undead.
Ravaged by the undead and the elements, his band was nearly
destroyed when chance would have him cross paths with his old
pupil Arthas. Muradin, driven by hope and Arthas by vengeance
set out to find the sword known as Frostmourne. As they made
their way nearer to its supposed home, Muradin began to realize
just how corrupted Arthas had become in his quest for blood. But
because of his oath to see the quest through to the end and his
belief in the man he’d known since boyhood, Muradin stayed by
the Prince’s side.
Even as Tichondrius leveled a powerful force against their small
outpost, Muradin and Arthas set out with a small contingent to
retrieve the weapon. Upon discovering the icy home of the blade,
they were warned by spectral guardians about the dire
consequences ahead. But they chose to enter regardless. Muradin
was able to read the inscription below the weapon and too late
realized that the blade was indeed a cursed object. It was
already calling to Arthas and its power already corrupting what
was left of the Princes soul. Taking up the blade, the first
drop of blood the sword would taste in Arthas’ hands would be
that of Muradin Bronzebeard, struck down by his friend and
former pupil.
