History

The eccentric and brilliant Gnomes have a talent for creating wonderful technological innovations. Living within the marvel techno-city of Gnomeregan, the Gnomes shared resources of the forested Dun Morogh Peaks with their Dwarven cousins. Though the dwarves are also skilled engineers, it is the Gnomes who created the various weapons and steam vehicles that the Dwarves employ. The Gnomes served the Alliance during the Second War, but strangely, they refused to send any personnel to aid their allies during the Burning Legion’s invasion. The Alliance was shocked to see the Gnomes deny any sort of assistance, even thought their inventions still helped turn the tide.

When the war ended, the Alliance discovered the reason for the Gnome’s sudden withdrawal. An ancient evil had risen from the bowls of the earth and invaded Gnomeregan. The ever thoughtful Gnomes knew that their allies’ priority was defeating the Burning Legion, thusly the Gnomes decided to make their stand alone. Though they fought valiantly to save their beloved city, the wondrous city of Gnomeregan was irrevocably lost. Nearly half of the gnomish population was vanquished during the fall of Gnomeregan. The surviving Gnomes fled to the safety of the Dwarve’s stronghold of Ironforge. Once again committed to the Alliance’s cause, the Gnomes spend their time devising strategies and weapons that will help them retake their city.

Characteristics

Gnomes are indeed small creatures, even compared to Dwarves, and they aren’t nearly as muscular. Though the Gnomes are small in stature they are quite quick and nimble, making them both fierce Warriors and Rogues. Though the Gnome’s true strength is their intellect and knowledge, and it is this that makes them prized masters of the arcane. Though their stature may make them seem as if easy prey, they are indeed fierce adversaries and should not be taken lightly.

Lifestyle

The Gnomes live with the Dwarves in the mountain of Khaz Modan. Much akin to their Dwarven cousins they only venture out when they feel a need to do so. One of those reasons is testing their new and improved steam vehicles and weaponry.

Technology

Gnome inventors are known all over the land for their technological inventions. Though the Gnomes have created more inventions than all the other races combined, it is often the Dwarves that are accredited for these inventions. Though it should be known that the vast majority of mechanical objects employed by the Alliance were indeed created by the Gnomes. The Gnomes have acquired a deadly arsenal of weapons that you will often see them employ should you have the misfortune of meeting one in combat.

The Art of War

Gnomes are known for the dauntless courage in the face of any sort of threat. Their courage and valor will send them rushing headlong even in battles to which they know they have no hope of winning. It is this courage that the Alliance so admires, and even the enemy cannot help but respect the little Gnomes. They will come to every fight clad head to toe in their armor and technological weaponry, making them a force to be reckoned with.
