Tauren

History

Tauren have a long and complex oral tradition that has been handed down for generations. Since almost no written record exists of tauren history, the accuracy of their tales is ambiguous. Regardless, many of their stories provide the only known account for several events in history, and so these stories must be regarded as having at least some believability. The tauren race is as old as, if not older than, the night elves and much like the elves, they have a strong attunement to nature and the elemental spirits. Thus, their society is largely based on shamanism. They live to serve nature and maintain the ever delicate balance between the wild things of the land and the restless spirits of the elements. In addition, elements of druidism, which had been taught by Cenarius and then forgotten over millennia, have been recently reincorporated into tauren society, further highlighting their service to nature.

Characteristics

Tauren are Minotaurs, a race of beings with the head of a bull and the body of a man. Covered in fur, the Tauren are usually brownish in color and stand at impressive heights, possessing amazing amounts of strength and endurance.

Lifestyle

These bull-men lead an honorable, courageous, and simplistic life. Their ancient shamanistic ways are not unlike the old ways of the Orcs, which coincidentally, the Tauren are helping them reclaim. Tauren live in tribes, which are ruled by powerful Chieftains who not only lead them in battle, but also in day-to-day life. It was these Chieftains that became interested in the Orcs and their new leader, Thrall, and sought to help them return to their old ways before the corruption of the Burning Legion turned them into savage monsters.

Technology

The technological aspects of the Tauren culture are somewhat unknown at this time. It is assumed that they possess limited forging abilities, which is evident in the powerful warblades that their Chieftains carry into battle.

The Art of War

Tauren excel in the art of warfare. Their combination of brute strength and incredible cunning make them a formidable opponent for any race. As in life, their Chieftains lead them in battle as well, wielding powerful magical warblades.
