When those mountains just won't get out of the way, the easiest way to surmount them is to fly over them. Flying transportation has an advantage to ground movement for that reason. A horse can be fast but a flying beast is definitely much faster.

These creatures of the air have been trained for years to fly with no help from the rider. And so, with only a small bit of coin, players can traverse great distances much faster than any leg will carry them. This sounds great, but in reality it’s not that simple. In order to use these services the player must first find each flight master in the wild and speak with them.

The beasts of the air for both the alliance and the horde vary depending on location, but they are all equally trustworthy. In the Eastern Kingdoms the alliance rides upon the backs of griffons while the horde adorns the backs of giant bats. In the lands of Kalimdor, to the west, the alliance ride atop hippogriffs while the horde fly via wyverns.

In addition, reports have been coming in lately from the Outlands detailing great adventurers riding on the backs of their own personal winged beasts. It is said that one may learn this skill and purchase their own flying mount once they are strong enough to control the mythical beasts. These mounts may only be used in the Outlands.

Zeppelins

Goblins are renowned as crafty inventors, and the zeppelin is a product of their brainchild. A zeppelin is a canopy that is suspended in the air by a gondola, and is otherwise know as a dirigible or a blimp. Zeppelins have an advantage in that they can hold multiple people, so that you and your party can travel together without taking separate rides, for a price (Goblins tend to be on the greedy side). Also, since Goblins are in it for the money, they won't discriminate between Horde and Alliance, so you'll be able to buy a ride from them regardless of race.

Gryphons

If you're crossing the lands alone, and you're part of the Alliance, then gryphons are the way to go. Although not a smooth ride, what with the Gryphon flapping up and down, gryphons offer something zeppelins don't; a view of the world below. Nothing makes a ride seem shorter than a scenic view below, and you'll be clamoring for the ride to be longer so that you can see more. Besides a scenic view, not much else is known about the advantages of gryphons, save maybe speed and price. You can't rain storm hammers down on the unsuspecting denizens of the world below, so the best you can do is laugh at them. As although you cant fight while flying, you can see realtime everything that happens down below you.

Gryphons are rented at an aviary. The don't just appear out of no where, however; there's a pen full of them, and one of them will carry you to your destination and then landing in the resident pen with its brethren.

Other Flying Objects

Balance is always the key, so why does only the Alliance get a non-zeppelin alternative? As it is, the horde is stiffed on flying methods, which will obviously be changed. Chances are, they will be blessed with the wyvern, a less proud but nonetheless trustworthy air transport animal.
