Hunter

Hunters are a ranged physical damage class with a side bonus of a pet. The Hunter’s pet is the key to the Hunter class as the pet adds additional damage and can provide the Hunter with his own “tank” to keep the mob at range.

One of the most known class abilities of the Hunter is the ability to track many different types of mobs. This helps the class find quest objectives easier as well as navigate highly populated areas by checking the mini-map for the locations of mobs in that area.

Another thing that makes the Hunter class unique is the Level 30 skill Feign Death. This allows the Hunter to pretend he died and results in a complete aggro wipe and can be done every 30 seconds. This skill is very highly used in raids so Hunters can maximize their damage output.

Hunters also have several different types of traps. These traps activate when a mob or opposing player passes nearby to the trap location. The traps can be used to slow a group of mobs, inflict fire damage to a single mob, inflict fire damage to multiple nearby mobs, and completely freeze a target rendering them unable to perform any actions. Effective use of these traps shows the difference between a good Hunter and a bad Hunter.

The Hunter has 3 talent trees which greatly diversify their play style in PvP and PvE. The Beast Mastery tree focuses on buffs to your pet to make you more equivalent in terms of function and purpose. The Marksmanship tree optimizes your ranged damage to provide the Hunter with more ranged attacks and plenty of damage. The Survival tree allows the Hunter to escape melee encounters more effectively and boosts the function of their traps as well as Health and Agility.
